Wondering how to use THC distillate?

The world of cannabis has come a long, long way as our choices are no longer limited to just choosing between dried flowers and hash.

Years ago, we’d be fortunate to have the choice between a few strains, with additional options of Moroccan or Afghani hash.

Today, however, we not only have a plethora of different cannabis products available but also the ways in how we can consume them have skyrocketed – from transdermal patches to lotions to tinctures and more.

But when it comes to potency and basking in the trademark cannabis experience, none of them really compare to THC distillate.

THC distillate is becoming one of the most recognized extracts, and it’s for good reasons.

If you’ve never heard of it before, we’ll provide a brief rundown with some techniques of how to use THC distillate for the first time.

What is THC Distillate?

We won’t get too deep into the complete breakdown of how THC distillate is made, but you can find a complete guide here.

In short, THC distillate is a solvent-free extract purged through a short-loop system. Concentrates like BHO and Co2 oil require alcohol-based solvents for their final product. Although it’s not necessarily a bad thing or harmful for you, achieving a high purity of THC without any impurities is always a bonus.

The THC distillation process is split into two parts where on the first cut you remove the terpenes (which can be reintroduced to the THC distillate) from the cannabinoids, and the second cut removes the lipids, impurities and solvents, leaving you with an odourless high value clear distillate. The wiped film evaporator creates a distillate that can produce a fine oil used in vape cartridges, tinctures or edibles.

Now that you’re familiar with it, let’s talk about how to use THC distillate.

How to Use THC Distillate

The versatility of distillate is what truly sets it apart from other cannabis extracts. Thanks to the THC already being activated, it is not necessary for you to vaporize or smoke the product. Did you know that raw cannabis is non-psychoactive? The herb only becomes psychoactive when two things happen. First, when the bud dries and ages. Second, when the cannabis is heated. More psychoactive compounds are created by heating the plant than via ageing.

This is why I like to call distillate a THC swiss army knife.

Do you have it in your toolkit

Vaporizing

There are a few different methods of vaporizing these days. Most of you have seen the classic tabletop volcano. These are great, but not the most useful. Instead, the use of portable vaporizers has changed the game, allowing patients to medicate freely and discreetly anywhere they please. Disposable Vaporizers such as the Hooti Vape Pen are an easy way to get a quick dose of medication at any time and place.

Simply, refill your vape tank. Important to use ceramic coil vs cotton coil so the taste isn’t affected. The potency of the THC distillates will all be there using a cotton wick, but the idea of smoking this extracts is to enjoy the wonderful terpenes, and by smoking a ceramic coil this will definitely do the job.

Dab

Dabs are one of the most popular methods to consuming THC distillates. Essentially vaporizing the THC on a hot surface, taking a dab form of THC distillate is a great way to consume cannabis without needlessly wasting end product.

In a Joint

For those who love smoking marijuana, spread a little bit of distillate on your rolling paper. This will allow you to use much less flower, yet still, have all the great medicinal effects from your cannabis. The addition of adding the oil to your joint will improve the quality of the burn and smoke.

Make a Meal

Thanks to its flavour profile, you can make any meal or food item with your medication and not have the lingering taste of marijuana. While you don’t need to cook a full course meal with THC Distillate in it, whipping up a chicken parm with medicated sauce never hurt anyone.
